Once upon a time...
In 2007, a mother was walking past a sports field with her three-year-old son. Children were running across the grass, laughing and cheering, and the little boy stopped, mesmerised. With wide eyes, he watched and finally said, „Mummy, I want to play football in a costume too.“ For him, it was clear: if you play football, you wear a costume. A kit. This sentence stayed with the mother. So she set off to look for a club near Ackerstraße that offered exactly that: football training for very young children, ideally including a kit. But no matter where she enquired, the answer was always the same: football wasn't available until the age of five.
Determined to make her son's heartfelt wish come true anyway, she turned to a good friend who volunteered as a football coach. Could he offer a short training session once a week for the „little ones in costume“ in the park? She was sure she would find enough children who would be enthusiastic about joining in. The friend didn't think for long, but warned: „The park isn't ideal. What if the cage is occupied? What if the weather is bad? Will you then tell the little ones that there can be no training today?“
The mother paused for a moment, she hadn't actually thought of that. „Then we'll just rent a hall,“ she finally said. But that too proved impossible. Only registered clubs could apply for hall and pitch times. And so, almost incidentally, a sentence was uttered, the significance of which no one could have foreseen at the time:
„Then we'll just start an association.“
From this moment on, everything picked up speed. The friend took over the organisation, looked for solutions, and soon the first training sessions took place on the sand at Beach Mitte, where at least one hour per week could be rented. In 2008, the official club was finally founded. With it came fixed indoor and pitch times, and an idea turned into a real club.
What began with the wish of a three-year-old quickly continued to grow. First a few children joined, then more and more. Soon new age groups, new offerings, new ideas followed. Not only football was now on the agenda, but also courses for older children, teenagers, and adults. And the requests never stopped. The club continued to grow with every wish. Finally, the good friend made a decision that continues to shape Viktoria Mitte to this day: he gave up his actual profession to dedicate himself entirely to the club. With tireless effort, day and night, with heart, passion, and conviction. For that, we say from the bottom of our hearts: Thank you.
However, the end of this story is not solely about him. Our thanks go out to all the pioneers, to everyone who has accompanied us on part of our journey, supported us, or remains part of this community to this day. Every helping hand, every idea, every commitment has contributed to a small childhood wish evolving into a vibrant, diverse organisation. Without you, this story would never have been written.
